Cafe Dolci sits quietly along Market Street, a modest spot that draws in people looking for a straightforward, no-frills bite paired with solid Vietnamese coffee. Unlike the bigger cafés around downtown San Francisco, this place thrives on its focus: simple breakfast bagels and authentic banh mi sandwiches with a small yet thoughtfully curated menu.

Inside, the space feels compact and casual, often bustling during weekday mornings when office workers and commuters swing by for a quick breakfast or caffeine fix. The vibe is unpretentious, with a friendly, attentive proprietor who seems genuinely interested in making sure you get your sandwich just right. It’s not a sit-down cafe, so expect a more grab-and-go rhythm rather than lingering over your drink.

Banh mi here stands out for those who appreciate fresh, crusty bread with a nicely balanced filling — whether you prefer the classic steamed pork or meatball options, or more adventurous choices like their Dalikon Jalapeño addition. The flavors come together with toppings that feel authentic rather than overly fancy, making it a reliable spot for anyone craving a solid Vietnamese sandwich in the heart of the city.

If you’re aiming to enjoy your coffee and meal without the weekend rush, weekdays mid-mornings or early afternoons tend to be smoother, as the place does close on weekends. Locals seem loyal, returning for that particular combination of crunchy bread, savory fillings, and strong Vietnamese coffee to kickstart their day or fuel a busy afternoon.

For visitors who appreciate practical and well-executed lunch options in a less touristy setting, Cafe Dolci offers a comfortably modest experience—where the focus is on honest, flavorful food rather than atmosphere or extensive seating. It fits neatly into a downtown routine for those who want to grab a good banh mi and authentic brew before heading out into the city’s daily grind.

Cutest bahn mi store in the city. I got chicken meatball bahn mi it really hit the spot. Bread was crunchy and soft on the inside. Really top notch bahn mi hidden behind an unassuming store front. Truly a hidden gem! Note: why is the lowest review complaining they aren’t open on the weekends, how about you learn to read store times before leaving a low review…

Seriously the best Bahn Mi in the city, hands down! I have had a lot of Bahn Mi all over and by far this is my favorite! Very large, very meaty, delicious! The tradition combo is great if you like crunchy headcheese but the Dolci Favorite is really delicious, too!

This place is a hidden gem. The exterior is unassuming but warm and has a human touch that is present in every aspect of this restaurant. The proprietor was kind and responsive, asking about how I wished for my order to be made, and showed patience as I reviewed the menu. I ordered a teriyaki chicken meatball banh mi, in a roll of freshly baked bread. The crust of the bread and the snap of the carrots gave the sandwich textural complexity, and the freshness of the vegetables offset the rich meat and sauce. I also ordered the Vietnamese Iced Coffee, which balanced bittneress and sweetness perfectly.

Cafe Dolci is not one of the few but the only breakfast sandwich place in the city that makes excellent sandwiches and beverages for a reasonable price. We all know how expensive it can get eating out often while working in the city. Cafe Dolci will be easy on your wallet, health, and time since they are quick at serving people. Yes, you have to try this place! Today (5.30.23), I ordered an English muffin with egg, cheese, tomatoes, and extra cucumbers.

Fantastic Banh Mi and also in a large portion! I got the combination without mayo and it was fantastic! The lady at the counter was very nice and the establishment has been around for 20+ years!
